Privacy Policy
The Throughball is a free email newsletter about Premier League data and analysis, operated by an individual publisher based in the Czech Republic (European Union). This policy explains what personal data I collect, why, and what your rights are. Short version: I collect your email address to send you the newsletter, nothing else, and you can leave at any time.
What I collect
- Email address — the only personal data you actively provide, via the subscribe form.
- Subscription records — the date, time and source of your signup and your double opt-in confirmation, kept as proof of consent.
- Newsletter engagement data — standard email metrics (opens, clicks, device type) collected automatically by my email platform to keep the newsletter deliverable and relevant.
I do not collect names, payment details, or any special categories of data, and I do not buy, sell, or share subscriber lists.
Why and on what legal basis
Your email address is processed on the basis of your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)), given when you subscribe and confirmed via the double opt-in email. Engagement metrics are processed on the basis of legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) in operating and improving the newsletter. You can withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing — every email contains an unsubscribe link that works immediately.
Who processes the data
The newsletter is operated on beehiiv (beehiiv, Inc., USA), which acts as my data processor and stores subscriber data on servers that may be located in the United States. International transfers are covered by beehiiv's data processing agreement, including the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. beehiiv's own privacy policy is available at beehiiv.com/privacy.
No other third party receives your personal data.
Cookies
The newsletter website uses only the technical cookies required by the beehiiv platform to function. I do not run third-party advertising or analytics scripts. This page itself sets no cookies at all.
How long I keep your data
For as long as you are subscribed. When you unsubscribe, your address is removed from the active mailing list immediately; a minimal suppression record may be retained so we do not email you again by mistake. You can request full deletion at any time (see below).
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, email me at ondrej@thethroughball.com — I will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in the Czech Republic: Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů, uoou.gov.cz).
